The Einstein Telescope Presented at the Big Science Business Forum 2024
The Einstein Telescope (ET) was presented in a plenary session in the main stage by Antonio Zoccoli, President of INFN, and Stan Bentvelsen, Director of Nikhef. Representing the two official candidate sites for the ET—Euregio Meuse-Rhine (EMR) and Italy—the speakers introduced the project to a broad industrial audience, emphasizing the opportunity for active collaboration.
Thanks to a joint effort between members of the WP7 and WP10 of the ET-PP, the Einstein Telescope was also present during the whole week in the exhibition hall, featuring prototypes and examples of the potential future technologies the interferometer could have.
Industry engagement is crucial for the success of the Einstein Telescope, as the project relies on industrial partners to develop and build cutting-edge components such as instruments, vacuum systems, cryogenics, vibration insulation, and optics. Additionally, industries were invited to collaborate on developing new technologies that will be integral to the project’s success.
The Big Science Business Forum is a high-tech congress aimed at fostering connections between European Research Infrastructures and industry, with a focus on innovation and collaboration. The forum offered a unique opportunity for European businesses to gain insight into funding opportunities and competitions with a total budget of billions of euros annually, managed by international Big Science Organizations. This engagement enables industry to contribute to and benefit from the future of the Big Science Market.
